Skiing

Programs meet for 14 weeks, every Saturday, Sunday and select holidays beginning mid-December and ending mid-March, weather permitting.  Please enroll by calling 518-734-4300 ext.1120.

Mini Mountaineers – Ages 5-6

Mini Mountaineers, for ages 5 and 6, introduces our youngest participants to program.  Focus is on fundamentals of skiing, safety and fun!

Mountaineers – Ages 7-12

Mountaineers, for ages 7-12, focuses on the fundamental skills that serve as building blocks for success at a later age, when your child can choose a more specific program.

Half Day sessions are from 9:00am to 11:45am.  Full Day sessions are from 9:00am to 11:45am and 1:15pm to 3:00pm.

*Program Participants must be able to ski or snowboard blue square terrain and ride a chairlift independently.  Program prices do not include lift tickets or a season pass, which are required.

Snowboarding

This 14-week program integrates physical skill development and safety awareness with a great opportunity to make new friends. The Mountain Riders program focuses on stance and turn shapes, with the opportunity to develop and master freestyle, alpine and combined skills. The Competition program further develops the skills of a rider who wants to compete in local and regional competitions.

Mini Riders Program – Ages 5-6

Introducing the fundamentals of snowboarding at an early age. Riders of this ages will learn the basics of snowboarding – stance, mechanics of turning, linked turns. Safety and fun will be stressed. Independence in equipment use will be encouraged. This program is available in half-day option only. Program participants should have previous experience on a snowboard.

Mountain Riders Program – Ages 7-16

Developing the skills of a rider who has previously learned the fundamentals of snowboarding. The mountain rider will build a strong foundation of stance and various turn shapes, allowing for the mastery of an all mountain rider. Participants will be introduced to and given opportunity to develop and master freestyle, alpine and combined skills. Safety, fun and learning will be stressed. Independence in equipment use and care will be encouraged. Participants’ ability on a snowboard will determine the level group they will be placed in.  This program will be available for both half day and full day options. Program participants should have previous experience on a snowboard. 

Half Day Sessions: 9:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.  Full Day Sessions: 9:00am to 11:45am and 1:15pm to 3:00pm.

Competition Program – Ages 7-16

Developing the skills of a rider who desires to compete in local and regional competitions. The competitor will build a strong foundation of stance and various turn shapes, allowing for the mastery of an all mountain rider. The basics of freestyle, alpine and combined skills will be introduced, developed and mastered by participants. Safety, fun, learning and good sportsmanship will be stressed. Independent use and care will be encouraged.

Participants will be grouped by the following age categories: Ruggie (7 and under*); Grommet (8-9); Menehue (10-11); Breaker (12-13); Youth (14-16). Ruggies through Menehues will be coached to grow maturity and independence through attending local competitions and regional events help at Windham Mountain. Breakers and above will be provided a coach at USASA events held at mountains within the regional series.

This program will be available in full day only/ Participants must have previous experience on a snowboard.

*Consideration will be given to riders under the age of seven who have been assessed by a qualified coach to have the skills necessary for this program

Freestyle (Ages 7+)

Learn to ski the bumps, hit the jumps, and free-ski like the pros. Coaches combine fun and challenge to develop the techniques needed to pull off freestyle maneuvers in both disciplines. The Windham Mountain Freestyle Program is affiliated with the United States Ski and Snowboard Associations (USSA & USASA).

Junior Instructor Training (Ages 13+)

This program is focused on youngsters ages 13 and up who would like to become Windham Mountain Snow Sports instructors. It’s also great for those who simply want to be a better skier or rider. This 14-week, full-day program is open to skiers and snowboarders of at least “intermediate” capabilities. Participants learn from the pros how to teach all levels, from beginner to expert. And they’ll be able to take advantage of the most talented coaches available.

Windham Race Factory

The 2019-20 Program Offerings for the Windham Race Factory include exciting new additions. All Windham Race Factory programs are scheduled to begin on December 14th, include MLK Day (1/20), President’s Day (2/17), and will run through March 22nd.  This adds four additional days to all WRF programs! In addition to the standard programs, we are offering a new “All Mountain” program for athletes U14 age and older.  All registered athletes will have free access to the Columbus Day Weekend Dryland Camp.

Mini World Cup – U8, U10, U12

Mini World Cup athletes compete in four (4) races Windham Mountain in the following disciplines: GS, Paneled SL, Stubby SL, and Kombi. Standard program day is from 9:00AM to 2:30PM.

Kandahar Track (Alpine Competition) – U10, U12

Our Kandahar Track program is designed for skiers from age 8 to 13 (U10, U12, U14) who are interested in pursuing a more competitive track of ski racing. These athletes will be introduced to the broader world of NY State Ski racing as they compete against other local mountains in U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association sanctioned events. All athletes are required to be members of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and NYSSRA (New York State Ski Racing Association).

Excelsior and Empire Cup Track (Alpine Competition) – U14, U16, U19

Our Excelsior and Empire Cup Track program is designed for serious ski racers from age 14 to 18 (U14, U16, U19) who are dedicated to the sport of ski racing. These groups will often have early morning training throughout the season. Midweek training through our Flex Day Training program will be available throughout the season. All athletes are required to be members of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and NYSSRA (New York State Ski Racing Association).

NEW for 2019-2020 All Mountain Team

The All Mountain Team is for athletes born 2001-06 who want to continue with Windham Race Factory but no longer want to be in a competitive racing program. The Team will function as a unit with an appropriate number of coaches based on registered athletes. They will have the same program dates and will have content-based programming throughout the season without the rigors of a race or gate training schedule. They will be permitted to start in all MWC races if they choose to do so.

NEW for 2019-2020 Coaches in Training – Ages 15+

PROGRAM DATES – December 14-15, 21-24, 26-31 | January 4-5, 11-12, 18-20*, 25-26 | February 1-2, 8-9, 15-17*, 22-23, 29 | March 1, 7-8, 14-15, 21-22*

Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of race program experience. All candidates are required to be a member in good standing with NYSSRA and US Ski and Snowboard with a “Junior Coach” membership. Candidates will receive education in current coaching techniques, race day administration, and have the opportunity to learn from the Windham Race Factory’s experienced coaches and staff. Candidates must be 15 years old by December 31st, 2019.

Wooly Bear Club

At the Children’s Learning Center

Our littlest skiers and riders get the benefits of membership!

The Wooly Bear Club is a great opportunity for parents to enjoy enhanced CLC service, while securing the best value for the season. Kids between the ages of 4 and 6 will get a season pass, a locker, and 15 days of winter fun. Best of all, express drop-off and pick-up! That gets Mom and Dad out on the snow faster. Fun for the whole family!

Half day program can be AM or PM, or a combination of both.
