Windham Mountain Resort, Windham, NY (December 10, 2017) -
Earlier today, Windham Mountain Resort rang in the holiday season by raising $6,730 for the Windham Community Food Pantry. Skiing and Riding Santa Day, the resort’s annual charitable celebration is now in its 8th year. 191 skiing and riding Santas took to the slopes and enjoyed the four to six inches of natural snow that fell Saturday, on top of what snowmakers have been making since mid-November.
Participants were asked to dress as Santa and make a donation of $30 to the food bank. In return, they were invited to ski or ride for the entire day, and were also given a voucher for a free lift ticket on a return visit to Windham Mountain Resort this season. Participant contributions came to $5,730, and Windham Mountain Resort added $1,000, bring the total donation to $6,730. A check was presented to the Windham Community Food Pantry by Chip Seamans, President & General Manager of Windham Mountain Resort, who thanked participants and wished them a happy holiday season as they boarded the chairlift for a group ride down What’s Next, a beginner trail on the resort’s east peak. “This is one of our favorite days of the year. It really kicks off the holiday season for us, and we love to help out the local food pantry”, Seamans said, surrounded by Santas, at the base of the mountain.
The season is just getting started at Windham Mountain Resort, where snowmaking continues around the clock and new terrain is opening daily. With a brand new experience for first time skiers and snowboarders this year, and the Adventure Park opening for snowtubing on Friday, December 15th, Windham is the place for winter fun for everyone. The next big event at the resort is on New Year’s Eve, when their will be a party on the patio, as well as in SEASONS in the base lodge, and fireworks will go off on the mountain at 9:30pm.
